Thyra Maltese, PA-C

A Florida native and military brat, Thyra Maltese has lived throughout the U.S. She attended Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach, Florida, where she played collegiate basketball. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in athletic training in 2010 and worked as a certified athletic trainer for four years. Thyra then went on to obtain her Master of Medical Science in physician assistant studies at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia in 2016.

Following the completion of her physician assistant program, Thyra was offered the opportunity to work in orthopedic surgery at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. She worked in the surgical subspecialty of sports medicine for over two years prior to starting her career in rheumatology. Thyra joined Low Country Rheumatology as of 2019. She is a board-certified physician assistant and is a member of the American College of Rheumatology. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, going to the beach and CrossFit.
