At Articularis Rheumatology Specialists of Montgomery, Dr. Fallahi and Dr. Jakes lead a compassionate team dedicated to providing expert care for autoimmune and musculoskeletal conditions. The Team

Sohrab Fallahi, M.D., F.A.C.P

Sohrab Fallahi, M.D., F.A.C.P

Dr. Sohrab Fallahi is a highly skilled rheumatologist living and practicing in Montgomery, Alabama.  A native of Iran, he earned his medical degree from the University of Tehran. After immigrating to the United States, he completed an internship at Illinois Central Hospital in Chicago. Dr. Fallahi then completed his internal medicine residency at Lloyd Nolan VA Hospital. His fellowship in rheumatology was fulfilled at the University of Alabama Birmingham, which allowed Dr. Fallahi to hone his skills in this specialty. 

In 1985 Dr. Fallahi joined Dr. Jakes at the newly formed Montgomery Rheumatology Associates, where he has been practicing ever since. Throughout his career, Dr. Fallahi has remained committed to advancing his medical knowledge, teaching as an assistant professor of medicine at his alma mater, and focusing on providing the best care to his patients.

Outside of his professional career Dr. Fallahi enjoys reading, playing chess, backgammon, and traveling.

James T. Jakes, M.D

James T. Jakes, M.D

Dr. James Jakes is a highly respected rheumatologist known for his expertise in autoimmune and musculoskeletal disorders. After receiving a Bachelor of Arts from Wofford College, he completed his medical training at Vanderbilt Medical School, where he also fulfilled his internal medicine residency. After joining the United States Navy, Dr. Jakes was stationed at the Navy Regional Medical Center in Long Beach, California where he practiced internal medicine. After finishing his fellowship in rheumatology at the University of Southern California, Dr. Jakes opened his private practice, Montgomery Rheumatology Associates, in 1982 in Montgomery, Alabama.


Dr. Jakes has contributed significantly to the field through his clinical practice, research, and academic endeavors. He is dedicated to improving patient care and is known for his compassionate approach with tailored treatment plans. As a mentor and educator, Dr. Jakes continues to inspire the next generation of rheumatologists.


Outside of the practice, Dr. Jakes enjoys playing tennis and reading.

Kurt Blake, MD

Kurt Blake, MD

A welcome addition to Articularis Rheumatology Specialists in 2025, Dr. Kurt Blake is a highly skilled rheumatologist with dual board certifications in internal medicine and rheumatology. Dr. Blake earned his medical degree from the University of the West Indies, Mona in Jamaica, followed by an internal medicine residency at Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center in Athens, Georgia. He then completed a fellowship in rheumatology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he honed his expertise in diagnosing and managing complex autoimmune and musculoskeletal conditions.

Dr. Blake's diverse background also includes experience as a sports medicine physician for the Jamaican national soccer team. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Blake is passionate about medical education. He has served as a pharmacology instructor at St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada, helping train the next generation of healthcare professionals. Combining his clinical expertise, teaching experience, and enthusiasm for patient care, Dr. Blake provides comprehensive and compassionate care to his patients. 

Outside of his practice, Dr. Blake enjoys staying active through kickboxing and working out at the gym. By demonstrating the importance of leading a balanced and healthy lifestyle himself, Dr. Blake hopes to encourage his patients to do the same to allow for best treatment outcomes and improved quality of life while navigating the ever-changing symptoms of their rheumatic conditions.
