What is Clinical Research

Your doctor may discuss your eligibility for a clinical research study, or you may have seen an ad for a clinical research study. Not everyone can be a research participant as you must meet very rigid criteria. To understand if participating in clinical research is right for you, you need to understand what clinical research is.

Clinical research is the comprehensive study of the safety and effectiveness of promising advances in drug development. Clinical research involves people who volunteer to help us better understand medicine and health. Every drug, device, diagnostic test, technique, and technology used in medicine today was once evaluated in volunteers who took part in clinical research studies.

At Articularis Healthcare Group, we want to offer innovative and promising new therapies for the communities we serve. We believe it is critical to participate in research to offer potentially new cutting-edge and innovative treatments to our patients.

Participants in clinical research play an active role in their own health care, gain access to potentially new treatments that are not available to the public, have access to expert medical care during their participation in clinical research, and help others by contributing to medical research. In addition, participants may receive study-related medical care and medication at no cost. Compensation for time and travel may also be available.

Becoming a part of clinical research is voluntary, but you must meet specific criteria. This criterion is different for each clinical research study. Some studies may involve only healthy people, and other studies may involve those who have, or are at risk of having, the disease the drug or treatment is indicated for.
